Cookie Policy
1. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. They allow websites to remember your preferences and understand how you interact with the site.
We also use similar browser storage mechanisms (localStorage and sessionStorage) for specific, limited purposes described below.
2. Cookies We Use
We follow a principle of data minimization. Here is the complete list of cookies deployed on this website:
Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential for the website to function. They do not require consent.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration | Set by |
|---|---|---|---|
madmetrics_consent | Stores your consent choices (accepted/rejected categories) | 12 months | MadMetrics |
madmetrics_uuid | Anonymous identifier linked to your consent record | 12 months | MadMetrics |
Analytics Cookies
These cookies help us understand how visitors use the site. They are activated only with your explicit consent, following Consent Mode v2 (default deny).
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration | Set by |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Distinguishes unique users for Google Analytics 4 | 2 years | |
_ga_* | Maintains session state for Google Analytics 4 | 2 years | |
_gid | Distinguishes users over a 24-hour window | 24 hours |
Advertising Cookies
We do not deploy any advertising, marketing, or retargeting cookies.
3. Browser Storage
In addition to cookies, we use the following browser storage mechanisms:
| Storage | Key | Purpose | Persistence |
|---|---|---|---|
| localStorage | madmetrics_consent_data | Stores your full consent preferences (categories, timestamp, version) | Until cleared by user |
| sessionStorage | madmetrics_funnel | Tracks your progress through the diagnostic funnel during the current session | Current session only |
4. Cookieless Analytics
We use Vercel Analytics and Vercel SpeedInsights to monitor website performance. These tools are entirely cookieless: they collect no personal data, set no cookies, and require no consent. Data is anonymized and aggregated at the edge.
5. Consent Mode v2
We implement Google Consent Mode v2. By default, all analytics and advertising storage signals are set to denied. Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*, _gid) are only set after you explicitly accept analytics cookies via the consent banner. If you decline, no analytics data is collected.
6. How to Manage Your Cookies
- Cookie banner: displayed on your first visit. You can accept all, reject all, or customize your preferences.
- Footer link: click "Cookie Settings" in the footer at any time to reopen the consent banner and update your choices.
- Browser settings: you can also manage or delete cookies directly through your browser settings. Note that blocking essential cookies may affect site functionality.
